lyrics

They're at the door again
Too many fractions cause congestion of the whole
In a rare moment of clarity my whisper screams
“Just let them go”, but...

Hammering my door again
Leave me to my vacuous serenity

Floating with the tide
Every ripple hides a tsunami of 'should've been' (could've been, would've been)
Cerebral staircase of Escher wraps around my skin
This bubbling canvas of absurdity

Oh for some peace again
To silence this philosopher of platitudes
So if I'm breathing underwater
It's only to inhale the weight, to feel the shock of something real

So I lay my jagged head
On a pillow cut from diamonds and glass
Reflecting every transgression, every stowaway
With many a story to tell

For every nightmare, for every cold, cold sweat
For every twisted slice of dormancy, take me there...

Oh to sleep again
To silence this philosopher of nothingness
So if I'm wading in my fever
It's only to absorb the pain, to feel the shock of something real

So in this place, my private chamber
Are walls of shattered mirrors
Refracting pieces of my skull
And though I labour, no matter where I stand
This perfect stranger, forever stares right back at me...

Oh for release again
To silence this philosopher of fallacies
So if I'm drowning in reflections
The only way to stem the tide is to forever shut my ears
